It's been so long since we've had a full day of sunshine! Lily was so content at Owen Beach and then we went to the Zoo. Kayla was there with us and she makes these excursions so much easier!! A really good day!!

Wishes Fountain
At the Children's Hospital we like to throw a few coins and make some wishes on our way out. Seizures are up and although her Dr checked her ears and they looked good (though her tubes look blocked from wax), we can still tell something is going on. We see the ENT on Monday and neuro on Wednesday, so hopefully we'll solve the mystery and get her back to our sweet spot of good development and low seizures!!!

Spring Festival
Lily had a great time milking a cow, feeding a camel, and playing in corn. She had 2 bad seizures after our jaunt, and she had another minor seizure later in the day. I think something is a'brewin'. We'll call the Dr in the a.m. and get her in tout de suite.

Kayla and Lily's Artwork
Kayla is so good at helping and teaching Lily! She has a kind, sweet spirit and such a fun nature. Here is some artwork they did together!! Note the Tiger Lily! :)
Fancy Friday
Fancy Fridays are something I started with Lily...mostly it's beginnings stemmed from her being sick or susceptible to catching viruses and us being often stuck at home, but I wanted to make Fridays special. So she gets a bath in the morning vs at night and gets dressed up! Sometimes we go somewhere, sometimes we don't, but it doesn't matter...fancy is important regardless!!!
Fabulous Week of Therapy
Lily had a blast swimming this week and had her best horseback ride ever!! She's a little fish in the water and squeals and laughs through the physical therapy--what a shift!! Lily's horseback riding session was sponsored by my cousin Kim, who has paid for an enormous amount of rides for Lily!!! We are so thankful to her, and the rides are giving Lily an amazing amount of strength!! This last ride was her best! She barely has to be held at all and holds her head up high and smiles!!! Such an amazing experience!!!! So thankful for all of the help from Kim and Don and so grateful that we're seeing Lily making advancements!

Swim Therapy
Lily had her first swim therapy through the school with her physical therapist, Joy. Lily really enjoys being in the water and did a marvelous job kicking, putting weight through her hands and feet, and pushing off of the wall with her feet. She laughed and squealed with delight!! Such a wonderful form of therapy for her...I believe that any therapy that is fun begets more results because she lasts longer and the rewards are higher!! Excited to watch her advance!!

Pigtails in the Wind
Lily's wheelchair has totally changed life outside the house for all of us. Today Kayla and I went to get frozen yogurt and then walked to Big Foot Java and after went into PetSmart to look at the animals. Going to 3 places and being out that long and in her stroller was nearly impossible. However, Lily not only stayed awake, but was having a blast!!! At one point, when we were walking outside, she had her chin up with a big grin on her face while her little pigtails were flapping in the wind, and you could just feel the amazing vibes coming off of her. She has a way to get around in the world!!! I think we all feel like we have a new pair of legs!!

Illness and Injury
Well, we had about 10, maybe closer to 15 days with Lily not being sick and then she got another ear infection. She had one in January, February, and now late March. We have an appointment set up for her to see the ENT. Her tubes are in but it's possible that they're blocked. We went awhile also with no seizures, but with the ear infection back, the seizures are rearing their ugly heads as well. Hopefully they will pull back as the antibiotic starts to work!
I sometimes worry about carrying Lily down the stairs because she is not only a whopping 33 pounds now, but she is a wiggle worm! Well about 2 weeks ago, while carrying her down, I started to fall but caught myself on one heel. I was just relieved that Lily was ok! But my foot hurt so I was walking a little limpy and two days later I slipped and hurt that foot again--that's when it started to swell. I didn't break it, but it was impossible to walk on it the pain was so intense. The doctor put me in a cast boot and on crutches and told me to stay off of it. I was thinking, yeah right...like how am I going to carry my daughter up to bed, or get her wheelchair out of the van while I'm on crutches! Thank goodness, my sweet husband was immensely helpful and did all the lifting! For the weekend, Kayla has come in for extra hours to help as well. I still cannot walk on my foot very well, but I think it has brought up the fact that we need to consider either a stair lift or a house that has a bed and full bath on the bottom floor. Oh, and I have a cold. I seriously hope Lily doesn't get it. Fingers crossed!!!

I really hope we're getting all of this sickness and injury out of the way so that we can have a healthy and fun summer!!!
